Christmas meeting

Postby Lord Colnago » Tue Dec 11, 2018 4:44 pm

We held our last meeting of the year last night with five members attending. We started off with a look at an early version of the top of the main baseboard for our North Elmham layout. Tim Horn cut this out on his laser cutting machine with the appropriate track plan cut into the surface. Even though we only had the baseboard top, we were able to make some key decisions on width, lighting pelmet height and viewing height.

After such brain taxing work we settled down to some Christmas goodies, provided by Tim, washed down with a nice hot mug of tea. Then it was back to the grind when we put together an Alex Jackson coupling test rig. A few of my wagons were tested and a couple of minor issues raised, which have already been sorted out.

Our next meeting will be on 7th January when, hopefully we can continue making steady progress.

Christmas seems an appropriate time to express thanks to John for organising the group and to Tim for making his workshop available for meetings.
The group is lucky to have several experienced P4 modellers and a similar number of those less experienced in this genre - although most of the latter have transferable skills and knowledge gained elsewhere.
What is nice - especially for those as green as me - is the willingness of the knowing to share their knowledge. Thanks chaps. :-)
