Ten members sat down to lunch at the Engineer on 17th October, joined later by four non-diners. In the meeting proper Alan Rhodes showed a medication dispenser with modelling applications, a part painted Modelu figure and George Dent’s latest book on weathering. Tony Manktelow brought two long wheelbase flat wagons and the recently released Bachmann “Beachy Head”. Chris Foren passed round two etches for wagon chassis designed by Martin Finney and marketed by Brassmasters. Tim Easter had recently completed a Parkside Grampus with Rumney Models etched baskets and Dave Franks buffers and a 3D printed narrow gauge loco. Brian Webb introduced us to the latest HMRS book, “Southern Style”. The discussion was rather fragmented this time but covered the Great Electric Train Show, the Channel 5 TV programme, proof reading, rtr diesels, overseas travel and much more.
The Group meets on the third Wednesday of each month. The next meeting will be held at the Engineer, St Johns Road, Harpenden, on Wednesday 21st November at 7.30 pm. Advance notice: the January 2019 meeting will take place at Ye Olde Fighting Cocks, 16 Abbey Mill Lane, St Albans AL3 4HE from 2.30 pm with lunch available beforehand. This will enable music lovers to attend an organ recital in St Albans Abbey from 12.30 pm and the group organiser to give it!
