First meeting yesterday for some time at Chris's. Just three of us - Chris, Paul and myself. Conversation revolved around the show at Aylesbury which received favourable comments - Finescale Railway modelling Review which was deemed a welcome addition to the finescale movement but one of us wondered how long it would last, remembering the demise of the Digest which seemed a superior publication. We all felt that MRJ, so long without a captain at the helm, was surviving on the loyalty of we committed readers and needed to get back to its raison d,etre.
All this chit chat was accompanied with tea and apple turnovers and the bedlam created by Gonzo, Chris's young Jack Russell.
We have set a sort of Winter programme and it is as follows -
1.get the signalling working on New Mere. ( Steve )
2.get stuck into our next 4mm project, Nettlebridge,( S&D coalfield activities.) (Mainly Chris in the early parts)
3.Begin and complete ( if you believe that you'll believe anything) a small S Scale layout of Kilmersdon, (coal again!) (Paul, Steve and Chris)
We have also been asked, and we have gladly accepted, an invitation to operate Alkham at the Portsmouth show this coming November. This is as a tribute to the late Ian Holliss, our friend and fellow modeller, hugely missed by us all.
There we are then. Sort of new years resolutions made in September!
