Highbridge reborn

I have reported on another thread that Highbridge is in its new home.

Next Tuesday sees a Grand re-opening ceremony announced to invited guests:

"The Boards of Directors of the Bristol & Exeter Railway and Somerset
Central Rly. cordially invited you to the Grand Reopening Ceremony of
Highbridge Railway Station.

As is normal for railway inaugurations there will be an orchestra and
banquet (well, cakes & ale or Prosecco anyway).

Festivities start from 19:00, on the terrace, weather permitting.

Early arrivals will get to drive and ride on the first trains which I
believe will avoid the disaster that befell an MP at the Liverpool &
Manchester Rly Opening since the Board of Trade has approved the safety
and other systems despite some being incomplete.

There will be a speech from Hon Snooze Editor, James Moorhouse
representing the Regulatory Authority. He will invite Honorary
Alderwoman Sylvia Townsend to cut the ceremonial ribbon to the band's
accompanyment.

Several other local dignitaries are expected including Paul Bannerman
JP, Nigel Newling Lt Commander Ret RN and representatives of various
Government Offices.

Dress code is formal Regalia and Uniforms where available, casual for
others.

Partners are welcome also.

RSVP to

Temporary Joint Company Secretary"

While this is NOT an open invitation, if anyone in Greater Bristol area would like to come send me a private email request.

As noted above some parts of the model are being improved in the new home so I hope to post here more regularly to give updates.

The hot news is that Rumney Models boss, Justin and Paul Hutfield turned out last night and spent several heroic hours under the Burnham approach baseboards adding proper supports to my dodgy temporary props which were used to re-level the boards.
Justin was driven bonkers wielding tools a bit larger than he is used to:

So S&DJR trains are beginning to run again after 9 months. However the full S&DJR service can't be restored until some more work is done to the MPD baseboard mounting arrangements.....

Very good P4 file that is!!! I'm minded to obtain a few and sell them on the stand.

A most enjoyable evening was had under the Highbridge baseboards yesterday and I'm very much looking forward to the grand reopening next week.

Only to certain members of the society. The file comes with a certain degree of speed attached to it...

Highbridge has now acquired two serious beams spanning 6M across the model.
This has had a full-on engineering design for safety and performance and it looks pretty OK too, pix to follow when camera goes back to colour mode ( !!)

I am now able to suspend load above and have started hanging led lighting to the model.

Its great to be able to run trains again after 9 months of hiatus....still plenty of debugging to do on the S&DJR but GWR is settling down OK.

PS
The Grand Reopening went well, although the orchestra went AWOL; all was smoothed by ale and cakes with occasional Prosecco.
Several wives were appreciative of the model and its location in my new palace...always good to get some positive remarks in stock for when I am neglecting Sylvia on railway capers.

I suspect some official pix will appear is Snooze sometime....

Since May progress has been slowed by architects, planners etc and my attention somewhat diverted to Dartmouth q.v.

However a new method of hingeing the S&DJR staion throat baseboard has been devised which better fits the new room.
So we mow have continuous running on S&D as well as GWR. Debugging continues as the layout has settled a bit so some baseboard joints have needed packing up or lowering.

Some experimental over head led lighting is in use and shows what works and what is less good.

Roll on the winter...with builders around the house my Highbridge room is my refuge !

Oh well, perhaps not!
That reflects the good supply of better articles for the editor to continue the high standard , my loss is your gain :D

Ouch, Tim please step forward.
Tim took many and they are available to me in Dropbox. Doubtless he forgot to let you know how to access them.
