A meaty engineers van...

The few meat vans BR built ended up in normal use and then some found their way into engineers usage.
The Dia 1/251 insulated variant, as available from Parkside Dundas, is a nice kit. Time for the action 8-)

Primed and ready for the paintshop
By the way, the buffers are from the LMS range, the brake shoes from ABS and the brake lever bits are the craig Welsh etches. The couplings are usual concoction.

The paint comes from the Lifecolour range.
The decals are a mixture of homebrew, Modelmaster and Railtec.
Now the weathering...

Its nice to get stock finished after all the crap I have been through.
Onwards and upwards. :face:

Hello IAK

I'm glad I found this thread. You've done a damned good job with the painting. Making plastic look like real wood isn't easy. My own painting efforts go from "pride of the wagon fleet" spray finish to looking like it has rotted where it stood.

I think it could be quite useful if you would consider elaborating on the technique you used for that wood effect.

I see you have some other wagon threads, which I am off to have a look at...

Hello IAK

I can't find any reference to it in the search bar. Could you point me in the right direction, please?

Thanks Iain

I hadn't found that before.

EDIT: Yes I did find this once before and bookmarked it, so my computer told me when I opened the link.
