Re: How to model a M.R. lever frame in a signalbox

Tim/Keith, I'm not an expert but I had the following helpful reply on the Rmweb blog from Alex as follows:- I've quickly produced a list of levers and added them to my website. http://www.alextrack.co.uk/railways/signalling/lawrence_hill_junction_signal_box/ I wouldn't trust the lever lead nomenclat...

Re: How to model a M.R. lever frame in a signalbox

Hi Tim, As Keith and Tim have rightly noted the 10 levers shown are all in the reverse position and are the correct levers for a train on the down main into Temple Meads and the Up main off shed. The remaining 37 levers are now in position at the normal side of the frame, all will become obvious whe...

Re: How to model a M.R. lever frame in a signalbox

Following all the useful information provided by Tim and Keith I have modified 5 Masokits fame & lever etches to produce what i think is a reasonable representation of the 47 lever frame for Larence Hill Junction. Here is a shot of progress so far with just the remaining 37 levers to add. 47 lev...

Re: How to model a M.R. lever frame in a signalbox

I have just picked up on this thread and most timely it is too. I have been building Lawrence Hill Junction Signal box for the past few weeks and am just about to start on the lever frame. I have chosen to use the Masokits levers and frame but think they will need some mods to conform to Midland LMS...

Brinkley at Cirencester

The Glevum S4 Society Area group, of which I am a member, took the group layout Brinkley to this show at the weekend - hence the lack of progress on Barrow Road. This show was at Deer Park School, a very pleasant venue and a very friendly atmosphere. Here are a few photos I took of Brinkley on Satur...

Re: S4 AGM

Hi Nick,

There is a 'Barrow Road Blog' on RMweb which can be found via a link on the Scalefour Society 'Calender page. This blog has a number of additional photos taken at the AGM as well as other information about building the layout... hope this helps.

S4 AGM

The embryonic layout of Barrow Road made it's first appearance at the AGM in Bristol on Saturday - thanks to Tim Venton and the Bristol Group for the invitation. I am very pleased with the ease of assembly of the boards and support legs which were erected inside 20mins. The roundhouse, workshop, coa...

Re: Glevum Area Group Meeting March 2010

I have often wondered about the detail of hoist mechanisms for Coaling and ash plant; has the Group got any ISBN reference(s) for published material on the subject please? The coal tower was made for me by Peter Leyland. I provided a set of prototype photos and drawings found in an article by Donal...

Re: 'Mint' Gauge

I purchased a Roger Sanders gauge from the 'Stores' about 2 months ago... brilliant piece of kit.
I did not realise it was known as the 'Mint gauge' but here are a couple of photos.

Clinkerford at Warley 2009

Clinkerford, the layout owned and built by John Darch, made an appearance at this year's Warley Show at the NEC. John a member of the group, who now resides in Donegal, travelled to the show with his wife Steph and was ably assisted at the show by fellow members Chris Yates and yours truly. On sunda...

Re: Eridge Mk2 update

Hi Rod, Thanks for the information. I have some Carrs 5mm foam from Brian Lewis's emporium to use on Barrow Road. I have just completed 6 of the 15 turnouts for the layout and am at the stage of deciding which material to use as a track base. I now need to decide whether to use the foam, traditional...

Re: Eridge Mk2 update

Looking at your photos you look to have used 5mm? foam as an underlay with the paper trackplan place on top. What is the source of the foam underlay and what adhesive have you used to
a) fix the foam to the board surface and,
b) attach the track paln to the foam.

Regards,

Re: Axle/hornblock alignment jigs

Hi Waterloo, There are a number of basic axle jigs available - London Road Models springs to mind. However Avonside Works is now marketing the new CHASSIS2 Jig shown in the products section of Sales and Wants. I declare an interest as a partner in the business. Please have a look at our website http...

Hi Jan, Good to hear from you! Isn't it strange.. at our monthly meeting last week your name came up in conversation with Tony and Graham about your involvement building the original shed boards. It is our intention to replace these boards and trackwork but re-use all the buildings. The main reason ...

Re: Brinkley Baseboards

Hi Tony, The two boards are 5ft x 2ft 6in, one donated by a member of the Glevum group and the second a clone of the first. Why make two! Both are constructed using good quality 4mm ply, with the side and ends box sections formed of two layers of ply with ply spacers. The ends are strengthened with ...

The Glevum Group are in the process of replacing the shed and incline boards on the group's Brinkley layout. This has been a while getting off the ground so here are a few photographs of progress on the two boards made over last weekend. For those familar with the layout the original boards have a f...
