As far as I am aware the tender drive relies on "rubber" tyres on the tender drive wheel for adhesion.
I am not aware of any "rubber" tyred wheels being available over the counter in P4.

Re: Ash pit vs service pit
I would think the pit in the shed was used for oiling and fit to run inspection, while the pit outside would be us for dropping ash out of the ash pan at the end of the days running.

Yard points would be operated independently at a different time as each point would have its own lever.
Using DCC route selection on my sidings I noticed that each point changes at differing times in the sequence that you programme them.

Colour spirit felt pens from Hobbycraft worked well for me.
I used a brown and a silver grey. Neat and no mess.
Coloured the ply sleepers after sticking down but before adding chairs and rail.

Having received my chassis kit from ME here is a picture if the etch. At a glance this is what you get for your money P1060846a.jpg The kit is designed with EM and P4 spacers. If you wish to build a 00 version the S4 spacers [*]are 1/2 etched for the narrower gauge . Correction my S4 spacers are not...

Here is a couple of pictures I took of a Janus at Foxfield this year.
Unfortunately I know nothing about the history of this loco.
The Foxfield website does not give any historical information.

Sorry no idea as to price yet, David.
There are a couple of tight spots to look at on the chassis.
Next job is to type my pencil notes, organise into a sensible order and add pictures.

At last the completed chassis. The motor is a Mashima 1220, which requires 3mm lopping off the shaft pointing to the front of the loco.
I hope to post some pictures of the chassis fitted to the body tomorrow.

A few more pictures. I have fitted the connecting rod, cylinders and crosshead. I have been spending time finding the odd thou clearance behind the cross head. All appears to be ok. Hattons in their sale are offering the BP Janus in pale blue for £49 plus £4 P&P.
There is thread on RMW for the Janus, however another thread with intimate pictures and constructive observations would be welcome.

Chassis kit for Oxford Rail Janus 0-6-0 diesel shunter.

As both C&L and Exactoscale already produce plain track bases, why bother to ask Peco to also produce plain track? Various UK railways had differing panel lengths and differing sleeper lengths, as well as differing layouts of timbers in point and crossing work. We are currently well supported fo...

Interesting that both sets of pipes are ribbed.
Vacuum brake pipes are ribbed and steam heat pipes smooth so you can tell the difference in the dark, so I was told.

I will still bring the chassis with me for those who wish to examine it.

From my point of view, you cannot tell that there is one spoke missing when ...
