Re: Aylesbury (Town)

The trestles in the photos are not going to be used the layout will sit on four storage boxes that hold all the boards when not in use. The boards slide in from the front so are always horizontal, we will need a few legs but again these store in the boxes.

Re: Aylesbury (Town)

The completed boards for Aylesbury Town all 32 x 12 feet. The boards are foam sandwiched with ply, there is no underboard bracing but these are very light and you are unable to twist or distort them. The board are fixed together with flight case latches and paten makers dowels. In fact you can latch...

Re: 24mm's / 6' Wheels 20 Spoke with 12" Crankpin Throw

Yes I got Modelu to print some Manning Wardle centres, the issue is getting tyres, I used Exactoscale tyres that C&L supplied then worked backwards making the centres fit the tyres. If are able to turn up your own tyres then there centres are not a problem as long as you can you 3D drawing softw...

Re: RAILEX 2016

We have now calculated total attendance which worked out at 3150, so quite a jump from last year. I think I got the balance right this year. I wonder if the number of P4 layouts is related to the number of new members to the Scalefour Society this year it was both five!

Re: RAILEX 2016

I have just had the final numbers for the show, they need a few tweaks regarding the number of families but it looks like we got to 3000 visitors, plus there was probably another 200 maybe 300 people in the hall either club members layout crews or traders.

Re: RAILEX 2016

Another Railex over and it was rather busy both days, we may have had our biggest attendance ever, I think Danny signed up five new members to the society as well.

Thanks for Iain Rice for judging and everyone else who helped or just visited.

Sorry Tim, my cock up, for some reason I had in my head it was Clutton last year.

Quainton Road Models have had to withdraw from Railex due to personal reasons.

Re: RAILEX 2016

Railex is this weekend, we have four P4 layouts this year, two EM and only one OO! although the show does have all the specialist traders you need. We expect Saturday to be very busy and Sunday tends to be quieter so maybe if you plan to come along consider a Sunday visit. Our free vintage bus servi...

Re: Track building day

At our first club night since the course saw a number of people building their second third or even fifth point we have now got around 20-25 turnouts built in around ten days. I am not too sure of the actual number of Scalefour members in our club, maybe around ten with another five or so getting ac...

Re: Track building day

We had our local show on Saturday I was doing a track building demo, quite a few visitors were interested. I got the "it looks hard or complicated" so popped the part over to the other side of the table and got a couple of people to file and solder up vees. The results were very good, and ...

Track building day

The Risborough and District MRC are building a model of Aylesbury in P4, we have decided to start afresh on baseboards and turn the end to end version into a roundly roundly. We need a lot more trackwork so ran a point turnout building course for members to build a copper clad turnout for the fiddle...

Re: Wagon floors... Worn,Corroded or What?

I have built quite a few wagons and take care that the brake gear is correct, so I am at a loss how I made this cock up, as it is a Masokits underframe that can only be built the correct way! Anyway I will correct it otherwise it will bug me forever. Going back to the weathering the glass fibre bush...

Re: Wagon floors... Worn,Corroded or What?

I have been trying to model a wagon I have a couple of colour photos of so I have both ends and one side the wagon is a mixture of unpainted wood and probably a colour once but since gone to a dark grey brown. I sprayed the wagon body silver first! and once dry built up a number of layers of paint b...

As in previous years we will have our vintage bus running from the railway station car park to RAILEX and return on both Saturday and Sunday, on the bus you will be able to purchase RAILEX tickets and programmes.

We also now have a RAILEX page on Facebook.

Re: Scaleforum 2015

The floor plan makes no difference to visitor numbers but the way both first impressions and the general feel of the show I think do. I am not saying Scaleforum is badly laid out but some other shows are, it may not be one thing that makes me decide to visit or not the following year, but if a numbe...

Re: Scaleforum 2015

Railex visitors tend to be quite similar each year over eleven years it has varied between 2300 and close to 3000 paying visitors. the lowest number was in 2006 our second year then it grew to our highest attendance in 2008 and dropped back slightly and stayed around 2700 for a few years before jump...
