Re: Aylesbury (Town)

I use Rowmark 1 or 1.5mm thickness for the outer walls and the same for an inner wall too. this gives the correct recess for most windows. I too tried interlocking corners but couldn't get the results I was hoping for so now assemble both outside and inside walls then mitre the corners with a disc s...

Re: Any Wheel and size!

To be fair the designs I have used as examples need working up as the spoke profile is wrong and the flare into the rim and hub, I was just seeing if the concept worked with fully editable parameters, I can also add other options such as bevel rims etc. The option of 3D printing wheels centres could...

Any Wheel and size!

Having designed and got 3D printed some Manning Wardle wheels, which I designed as a bespoke design, I came up with the idea of using Fusion 360 to create any spoked wheel. I created the changeable parameters such as diameter crank throw number of spokes if the crank pin was between or on the spokes...

Re: Aylesbury (Town)

A few more images of the station I have now switched to the steelwork for the canopies, I hope to have the walls laser cut in the next week and start to assemble the main building shortly after. I will have this and some of the 3D printed parts that go on the building on show at our small local show...

Re: Aylesbury (Town)

A few more photos of the worked up station building using the render function, I must admit for a free download Fusion 360 really is a great programme to design items with. As for the trackwork on the layout there is now some very impressive turnouts being built using Exactoscale chairs and wooden s...

Re: Aylesbury (Town)

Around 18 months ago it was decided there were issues with the original ten foot short version, instead of altering or extending the model we would make new baseboards and learn from what went before. We took a while to ensure we had everything correct this time, the original model had some of the c...

Re: Aylesbury (Town)

I have been working on designing the main building in Fusion 360 a free download, this is the result so far, once I have added all the parts I need I can convert the drawings to a DXF file to send to the laser cutter or 3D printer. This is the first time I have used 3D to design a model in the past ...

Re: Aylesbury (Town)

The trestles in the photos are not going to be used the layout will sit on four storage boxes that hold all the boards when not in use. The boards slide in from the front so are always horizontal, we will need a few legs but again these store in the boxes.

Re: Aylesbury (Town)

The completed boards for Aylesbury Town all 32 x 12 feet. The boards are foam sandwiched with ply, there is no underboard bracing but these are very light and you are unable to twist or distort them. The board are fixed together with flight case latches and paten makers dowels. In fact you can latch...

Re: 24mm's / 6' Wheels 20 Spoke with 12" Crankpin Throw

Yes I got Modelu to print some Manning Wardle centres, the issue is getting tyres, I used Exactoscale tyres that C&L supplied then worked backwards making the centres fit the tyres. If are able to turn up your own tyres then there centres are not a problem as long as you can you 3D drawing softw...

Re: RAILEX 2016

We have now calculated total attendance which worked out at 3150, so quite a jump from last year. I think I got the balance right this year. I wonder if the number of P4 layouts is related to the number of new members to the Scalefour Society this year it was both five!

Re: RAILEX 2016

I have just had the final numbers for the show, they need a few tweaks regarding the number of families but it looks like we got to 3000 visitors, plus there was probably another 200 maybe 300 people in the hall either club members layout crews or traders.
