Thanks for doing that report, Phil. It seems you had a great time.
I don't understand why they spoil the appearance of the train by adding a diesel immediately behind the steam loco. I thought the usual practice was to couple it at the very rear?

LNWR G2 kit on eBay
There is an untouched Brassmasters kit for a G2 0-8-0 on EBay - see https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332731164390?ul_noapp=true It might be useful for someone who has the lovely Mainline model and wants to put a finescale chassis underneath it. CRAG Meeting July 12 2018
The usual suspects (less Patsy who was, I believe, doing yoga) met at my house from 1230 onwards. It being a glorious day at 1300 we had lunch in the garden of the White Rose, after which we returned to do our usual things. David, Stu, Ron and I operated Clecklewyke and Bradford North Western, whils...

CRAG Meeting June 14 2018
Stu, David, Phil, Sheila, Ron, Patsy, Chris and I met at the Farmers’ Arms in that beaautiful village, Muker, for an excellent lunch washed down with a few pints, then drove up Swaledaale to Ravenseat, the beautiful, remote home of Ron and Patsy. We then played trans. Ron is developing an enormous E...

I wonder if Howard's next project will be that other Victorian life-saver, continuous brakes? Ian :o I am with Staats Forbes Chairman of the Chatham, who realised that Sykes Lock and Block kept the trains apart reliably enough to avoid the cost of continuous brakes, and was a much cheaper investmen...

Sorry, JFS, but with a bit of ingenuity chocolate block connectors do not need to be below the baseboard. Accepting my age and infirmity I have arranged that as far as possible all mechansms will be above baseboard level and that everything that might go wrong is easily accessible from above, so I h...

I use electrical connectors such as https://www.amazon.co.uk/CONNECTOR-STRIP-30AMP-jointing-cables/dp/B003ZWC4RM/ref=sr_1_10?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1529072453&sr=1-10&keywords=electrical%2Bconnectors&th=1 (although I sourced them from the local builders' merchant) These are obviou...

Re: CRAG visit to Buckingham GC 17/5/2018
Ian I'm only sorry I could not make it. I've got the books and articles, which were inspirational and are still relevant today. A quick question, Is it the original stock or have they had to produce their own? Philip I'm sure there will be another chance to visit. The stock is practically all PD's ...

CRAG visit to Buckingham GC 17/5/2018
!7th May 2018 was a real red letter day as four CRAG members (Stuart de Boer, David Dredge and myself) visited Tony Gee, to operate Peter Denny’s famous Buckingham Great Central. Aha, you spotted my deliberate error. :D Just testing whether anyone reads my drivel and trying to prove that Geordie Pugs are as similar as GW panniers. Seriously, thanks, Doug for correcting my sloppy writing - as bad as the continuity on a Michael Portillo train documentary! But J72 or not are th...

CRAG Meeting March 29 2018
March's meeting was pretty well attended, albeit affected by the strike on Northern Rail and ill health. Nevertheless, Stu, David D., Mike Megginson, Phil, Sheila, Steve, Cherry, Ron, Patsy, Bessy (a dog) and I attended. An excellent lunch was had at the Kings Arms (which was the Drovers Arms in BBC...

Jon, if you come to the CRAG meeting at my house on Thursday you can see what I've done with Clecklewyke and Humber Dock. I've set the track level at 6" below my eye level - 53" - and the bottom of the proscenium arch at 70". I have a very tall background - right up to my ceiling. Wit...

Thank you for your kind words, Noel. I've been thinking about CRAG's membership and realise that at our last meeting there were no active P4 modellers in attendance, just two EM gaugers, two OOers and two non-modelling supporters. Among the regulars who were not there we have two P4ers and one EMer....

CRAG Meeting 23/7/17
CRAG’s July meeting started with an excellent pub lunch in the Crown, followed by an operating session on Bradtord North Western. CRAG Meets DCC Concepts, 5/6/17
CRAG was warmly welcomed by Richard Johnson and his team at DCC Concepts new European headquarters in the old goods yard at Settle station.
