Each signalling postion has two bells placed at the ends of the block shelves to give you the direction of the call and each instrument has an annuncitor which lights for 5/6 seconds to show which...

Today several members of the Area Group attended the funeral of Roger Courtenay, Roger was obviously a popular person based on the overall turnout including several members from Bolton Model Railway Club. Roger was not a religious man and the service reflected this, it charted Roger’s life and the m...

Re: Fylde Area Group (March 2012)

It is with great sadness I have to report that Roger Courtenay passed away peacefully at home today (8th April 2012). Roger had two close calls with cancer in the past 25 years and in the last few weeks faced the final call bravely; he was keen to ensure that his affairs were tidy, especially sortin...

I have already started logging and analaysing the ...

Re: Fylde Area Group (August 2011)

Hi Tim,

Yes it looks like that pickup had been caught, probably during cleaning they should be on the outer edge of the flange. They do seem to have done the trick though, the loco's behave much better with them.

Re: Fylde Area Group (August 2011)

Hi Flymo and Keith, Thanks for your posts. Re: Fylde Area Group (August 2011)

Hi David, Thes for the post, glad to see someone is looking into electronics for railways, usually I don't mention it too much as it is not everyones cup of tea. In case you don't know my layout does use a lot of home grown electronic systems, although not fully automatic, it is designed to replicat...

Re: What are the curtains above the station area for?

This is an attempt at a proscenium arch, due to the high angle of the photograph it does make it look like it is right down on the layout, in fact it is 16 inches above it. This gives an average height person a field of view right across the layout, without too much room background, it also helps fu...
