Re: Newport MRS Open Day alias Gwyl 4mm Gwent 2 March

What is the lunch provision? Is the supermarket walkable from the centre? Tim A huge Sainsbury's has opened just down the road. Easily walkable and has a coffee shop. Failing that there a new Indian opened at the end of the street. Look forward to seeing you. Mike and, for the less discerning, a Mc...

Ross

First welcome to the fold.

On the FB/BH question if you could say which period and railway you intend to model there could be a forumeer who might be able to advise you what that railway used at that time.

Cheers
Rod

PS If it's Brecon and Merthyr ca 1910 I could be your man. :)

Re: Super Elevation

Thank you John, that's clear enough. It looks like a good solution to the problem.

And thanks Jim for the bandsaw tip - and at twenty quid for a 8' x 4' 50 mm board it's not going to cost a fortune.

Re6/6 - that looks very interesting. How much lift does it give to that outer rail (at 18.83 mm) please?

Unfortunately, jf, standard practice is to superelevate each track separately, so it's going to be that little bit harder to do. But worth doing nevertheless!

Re: Tracklaying onto Templot print outs

Pete We experimented with all sorts of glues in the Newport MRS in trying to glue down Templot print-outs for our Little Mill Junction layout. PVA, whether dilute or neat, always caused the paper to expand excessively. Photomount-type spray glues we rejected as we wanted to lay the track on top of t...

Philip, Great to see that someone's following the progress, albeit slower than we'd like, on Little Mill ( here ). I hadn't realised that we didn't mention the trains to and from ROF Glascoed and it's certainly our intention to include the Dumpers, as they were colloquially known, in the layout's wo...

I think you'll find the PowerCab a good choice.

You might also like to look at SPROG (http://www.sprog-dcc.co.uk/) as an aid to programming and test running locos.
