Staples transparency film, cut on white paper, picked up in tweezers. Inside window opening given a quick brush with Johnson's clear. Move the film into place, add more Clear with the brush - capilliary action will drag it into place. Do a side at a time and leave to dry before starting the other si...

Re: VIRTUAL SCALEFORUM & SCALEFOUR NORTH
Massive thank you to eveyone involved in sorting this out. Some brilliant modelling to look at and really useful links to help with wagons and scenics.
I especially liked the Zoom 'pop up' meets. Anyway, a big thank you.

So both the BR standard 5 and Collet 2227 are in a state where they run. 2227 is completely finished and requires no further work. https://youtu.be/dOmhatUBOcI The std 5 requires more work. There is a passing problem between the connecting rod and the first driver, that'll be sorted with my P4 model...

You could send the whole plan to someone who can laser cut the plan in one go. Save a fair bit of work. There are various people who do this. As I've started Hengoed HL, Intentio have done mine. It didn't break the bank, I was really surprised. The next set of point work will becoming there way once...

Time for another catch up. The 2251 is almost complete. Waiting for the weather to improve to get some weathering done. And no sign of ''lurchey ride, hesitant pickup, and compromised haulage". Still, you can't have everything can you. 2251 finished..jpg In regards to the Std 5, things have mov...

Re: Spur gears
CDG Did I miss something? How is the motor held within the chassis at the required angle? That motor combo cannot be as deafening as the DJH motor and gearbox I have in one of my 56xx's. It's so bad I have a new gear box on it's way to replace it. I have a feeling that the worm gear on the motor has...

So having looked at the way the CSB's would work/ be placed in the chassis - I chickened out (sorry Ted). Man's gotta know his limitations! So I stuck with the compensation. Added the compo beams and hangars that keep it nicely balenced in the body, all that's left now are the brake rods from the ch...

Mesmerising to watch all that. Absolutely brilliant, thank you. Far beyond my reach, but appreciate the skill that goes into that work.

Another one for the Hawksworth 15xx (6'4"×6'6") will be equally tight.
Think I'll be sticking with compensation on mine.

Re: Airfix 48xx with High Level Kits chassis
I had this problem on the County 4-6-0. The smoke box door is recessed into a rim. I used a plastic cutter to produce the rim and then shaped the bevel with wet and dry. Didn't take long, but worth the effort. The real pain was having to take the rim width off the smokebox so that everything was the...

Re: Airfix 48xx with High Level Kits chassis
Prompted by your comments I had a quick search and it is possible to get drills for brass that are designed for the purpose. https://www.fine-tools.com/messingbohrer.html
They are a tad pricey though![]()
Cheers,
David
You wouldn't want to break too many of those!! Ouch!

That's interesting. But doing that on a 0.5mm drill? Not so sure. Worth a go though, thanks for posting that David, I had no idea there was a cure for the grabbing effect.

Ted I'm going to CSB the loco chassis, so if you'd like to divulge the measurements on the chassis :P . Tender is already done - I just need to figure out how to put some much needed weight into it. The tender is just basically a box after the chassis has been dropped out. I've moved the offending p...
