Re: Wagon kit detailing
I've got a couple of Slaters mineral wagons on my bench and can confirm that these have no representation of internal planking. As well as scribing the plank lines, don't forget there's also all the internal strapping to add as well. I don't know how old the kits are as I think I got them on a secon...

Re: Caliper conundrum
Martin Wynne has kindly provided a solution, which has been proven in a few minutes. The drive pinion has skipped a tooth on the rack, probably caused by some swarf or similar debris lodged in the rack. Remove the strap at the far end of the arm (2 small screws) and carefully disengage the slider fr...

Caliper conundrum
I've picked up my caliper this evening and found that when the jaws are together, the scale show 0 but the dial shows .65mm, i.e. it is at 4 o'clock instead of 12 o'clock. Caliper S4um.jpg I've no idea how it go to this condition, even less so how to get it back to normal. Everything else seems fine...

Re: GWR Ratchet brake lever guard
To conclude this thread: 1) I've been offered some spare GWR guards from an Ambis etch by one of the S4Webforum members. 2) I've contacted Alan at Ambis who reports that he isn't 100% happy with the brake lever guards, so they are not currently available. He is preparing a second generation version ...

Re: GWR Ratchet brake lever guard
So it looks like my best option is to put this kit to one side, email Ambis and see what they will have available at Scalefour North.
Many thanks for all the assistance.

Re: GWR Ratchet brake lever guard
Thanks to you both for the responses. 1) I had already downloaded and checked the updated Masokits online catalogue but couldn't find any reference to the GWR brake lever guard. I've looked again and still can't. Do you know the catalogue code? 2) Searching for Ambis takes you to Fourtrack Models, a...

GWR Ratchet brake lever guard
I'm building a Ratio O29 open wagon, using Bill's suspension. The prototype has Morton rather than DC brakes; however the brake lever guard should be the GWR ratchet style rather than the pin method used by other companies. Whilst there are a number of brake gear kits available from a variety of man...

Bob Essery also included information, diagrams and photographs of Midland track, including some inside-keyed, in his article in MRJ 22.
