Re: Finally Made A Start in P4!

Taking advantage of Jacki being away for a long weekend, I've spent the last few weeks working on re-wiring and completing the fiddle yards in preparation for getting Cadhay set up in full for the first time since Scaleforum! Here's a couple of snaps of our lounge as it currently looks: CSM16-3-1.jp...

Re: Finally Made A Start in P4!

Thanks for the kind comments Knuckles. I'd certainly recommend the lever frame - it's been good fun to build and paint. Here's how the (almost) finished Cadhay Sidings Box is looking: CSM16-2-4.jpg Apologies for the poor photo! The box will be free standing and can be plugged in to the layout either...

Re: Finally Made A Start in P4!

It's been great to build and has made up into what I think is a good looking frame. Here it is painted and just awaiting it's electrical switches, locking leads and locking tray connections added: CSM16-2-2.jpg It will be integrated onto Cadhay without the Locking Tray being completed (although I ha...

Re: Finally Made A Start in P4!

This weeks progress has mainly revolved around electrics. I've completed the re-wire and CBus installation of Board A I've also built the second Block Instrument so I have a pair that can talk to each other I finally made a start on the Lever Frame for Cadhay Sidings Box (Jacki bought me them for Ch...

Re: Finally Made A Start in P4!

So one or two people have commented that we appear to have gained a double line looking instrument for a single line layout! This is of course correct. By way of explanation, I posted the following in my Cadhay thread on the MERG forum this morning: I looked long and hard at replicating a Tyers No 3...

Re: Finally Made A Start in P4!

Some progress to report that is non-scenic! I've built and bench tested my first MERG CBus units. After a little hickup initially (solved on the MERG forum with help from a Mr Norgrove of this parish - thanks) I now have the units connected up and working (albeit a little heath Robinson until I get ...

Re: Finally Made A Start in P4!

Happy New Year All! Can't believe it's been so long since my last update. Whilst I haven't got a lot to show, some progress has been made in the last 2 months but almost all under the bonnet! I've built my first two MERG Cbus kits and am in the process of getting them to talk to each other. Some nic...

Re: Finally Made A Start in P4!

Been a bit busy on the house renovations again over the last couple of weeks (and also some modelling work with the East group) but have managed to get some stuff done on the layout: Done a load of final detailing of the river bed and started filling the water CS-15-11-01.jpg CS-15-11-02.jpg Also st...

Burntisland 1883 Warley Preparation Nov 2015

Just a few pics of Burntisland 1883 set up at Broxburn Scout Hall last weekend whilst the group was getting the layout ready for it's trip down to Warley. The new Engine Works at the East end is to be shown in mock-up form.

This sounds familiar! In our one telly household, Jacki gets her choice of program while I get to model in peace - what's known as a win-win ;)

Re: Finally Made A Start in P4!

Got a few little jobs out of the way since I got back from Scaleforum. I have boards A & B set up in the sitting room and have adjusted and re-ballasted the joints. They've been parted and re-joined about 5 times and seem to be looking as I want them. The acid test will be when the layout next m...

Re: Scaleforum 2015

I had a stroll along the Aylesbury branch of the Grand Union canal before adjourning to Scaleforum on Friday, and mused on the problems of accommodation at Scaleforum and S4N. Ah, how about a narrow boat? Starting in Wakefield on the Calder & Hebble, then the Huddersfield Broad Canal, then the ...

Thanks for the comments - I'm glad you're enjoying what for me is a way of recording my progress!
