Re: The Socially-Distanced Challenge - Announcement thread
Well don't take this as gospel, but it would not surprise me if the next show is actually Scalefour North 2021 in April next year. That's plenty of time to paint a loco crew, or make some clutter for round an engine shed, or something simple yet satisfying. Maybe several such things. Speaking person...

Re: Scaleforum 2019
Many thanks to Terry and the team for an excellent weekend. The Waterloo Street loons thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it was great to catch up with so many friends. Mind you, organising prototypical Aberdeen weather over the layout, via a leak in the roof, was maybe taking things a bit too far :sho...

Re: 2019 S4 North
The Walton-Evans Trophy for the visitor's favourite layout was this year awarded to Dewsbury, with Rolvenden coming second and St Merryn third. It was a very close vote indeed, with only two votes from 120ish deciding the winner. Geoff Tiffany did the double by being awarded the Eileen's Emporium sc...

How much clearance is there between the body and the chassis block with your extra depth behind the radiator grills?
Hope your knee gets better soon.

Re: Thorburn's - dipping my toes in the water...
I've found that the 14BA crankpin washers Ultrascale supply are of a diameter that causes one half of the rods to clout the washers every revolution. Using 16BA washers broached out such that they fit the crankpins will most likely solve the problem. If the rivet holding the two halves of the rods t...

I do apologize, Nigel. At some point I will have to accept that computers and 3 for 2 offers on bottle of Theakstons XB don't mix.

Thank you, John and David for this. There's some cracking pictures in that lot!
As soon as I've finished the Scaleforum showguide, I'll need to get cracking with the final arrangements for next year's show.

Hi Colin,
They're the wheels supplied by Charlie Petty (Black Beetle?).

Expensive, but very nice.

Re: Forthcoming product - thin motor/DCC wire
To strip thin wire easily, use a razor saw blade and a green cutting mat. Lay a length of wire on the mat. Trap the end to be stripped under the saw blade such that the wire is between two teeth. Hold the blade firmly and pull the other end of the wire. Some experimentation will determine the right ...

I nearly forgot the Bring and Buy. Here's the scoop from the horse's mouth: Nothing was sold from the Bring and Buy stand before the show opened to the public. Nothing, nowt, nil, zilch, nada. Well, that was a busy weekend. Many thanks to everyone for the positive comments here, and those by email and PM. Re: Scalefour North 2014
There's plenty of parking in the school playground. Should get 200 cars in there if everyone parks neatly. Turn into the main school entrance from Northgate, drive past the main building and you'll pass the show hall on the left. Turn right into the carpark and find a space. There will be a steward ...

It's a fair point, Trevor, but where should I draw the line without someone feeling disadvantaged? What about people who can only attend on Sunday? Whose train is late? Whose shift finishes at 12.00?
