Re: Methods for Removable Loco Wheelsets.

You do not need to use keeping plates if you do not like it. Here is two axles 3-point suspension tender chassis with removed wheelsets. The idea is same as in locomotive chassis but instead of keeping plate I have used short brass wires to keep wheels in hornguides. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/...

Re: Methods for Removable Loco Wheelsets.

You have interesting discussion here. Let me show you some ideas we have used in Finland to make chassis. In 1980´s we made the kit of Finnish steam loco in UK. Our idea was to use the underplate the same way like toy locomotive makers do. They said in M&L that this is impossible, but we said th...

Re: Scaleforum 2014

Our compliments to everyone for extremely nice show! This was our second trip to Scaleforum — we enjoyed the exhibition very much. It was very easy to travel from Helsinki to Aylesbury — our trip took only five hours. Unfortunately we had to leave our pet polar bears home because it is impossible to...

Re: Scaleforum 2013

This was my first time when I visited in Scaleforum exhibition. Many thanks to all who had made a lot of work for making excellent show — that was the best I have ever seen. I and my three friends spent all two days in the exhibition. We arrived to Aulesbury in Friday and left the city in Monday. I ...

That´s interesting to hear that other clutches are also available. Please let me know where.

Re: Flywheels

As has already been said, DCC will only be totally effective when all else is correct, the same goes for a flywheel. I agree that. If you have space enough inside your locomotive you are also able to use centrifugal cluthes with massive flywheel. It is very difficult to get the same effect with DCC...

Re: Hornblocks for 3mm axels

I have used square bearings made by North Yard Model of New Zealand. Their square bearings are not same type as UK hornblocks but in some cases they might work as well. Diameters of their bearings are 3x5sqx2,8. The material is sintered bronze. You will find the picture of that in their catalog on p...

Re: London Road Models email address

The second is an email referring back to a casual meeting at a show several years ago and with photos of some overseas HO kits that the writer has now produced. Yes, that was me. As we might know the first Finnish coaches in 1860´s were made in UK (=Railway Plants Co and Brown, Marshall & Co). ...

Ideas for chassis?

Hi all, I have the plan to build the locomotive you´ll find in picture I enclose here. I would be happy, if you had ideas for making springing or compensation (suspension) for this kind of underframe. The prototype comes from the beginning of 1960´s - made by Valmet, the Finnish Locomotive company. ...

"Compound type" gears?

Hi all,
What is the best place to buy micro gears in modules M03 or M04. Especially I am looking for the “compound type” gears.

Lefthanded taps and dies

Hi,
Has anybody any ideas where I will find M1 and M1,4 (or correspondence BA) lefthanded taps and dies (for making working screw couplings)?
