Re: Dapol Class 73 conversion to P4

Gareth No it was not. I used the individual Disc diesel wheels 3ft 3 1/2inch , 2mm axle n/s tyres suitable for a class 42/43 and not the conversion set you mentioned. However looking at the conversion set details they look the same as the individual axle sets, but I am not sure if the boss on the ba...

Re: Dapol Class 73 conversion to P4

I have converted a Dapol Class 73 to P4. The main problem I found was that the wheel axles are non standard with an O/D of 2.07mm, see my original comments under post 3. I used Ultrascale 3ft 31/2 inch Class 42 wheels which have a diameter of 13.25mm with there standard 2mm axles. Because the Dapol ...

Re: Dapol Class 73 conversion to P4

I am a bit stumped by this conversion as well. The stub axles are a bit none standard. The axle is stepped. That part of the shaft which fits into the muff/gear and runs in the brass bearing is 2.07mm dia, whilst that part of the shaft which fits into the wheel is 1.80mm dia. Has anyone converted it...

Re: 7 mm wheels for Realtracks FLA container flats

Hi I have converted a FLA to P4. I machined down the original brass wheels which are 6.75mm dia. I reduced the flange depth from0.65mm to 0.4, reduced the flange width from 0.75mm to 0.4 and the overall tyre width from 2.8 to 2mm. The wheels were then mounted on Ultrascale 2mm P4 square ended axles....

Re: Dapol FEA-B spine wagon - wheel diameter

Hi I have fitted Blackbeetle 10.5 mm P4 wheels to my FEA`s. They just drop in and are free running. I did try some others (can not remember which) and they were not as free running, the problem was the plastic bush on the axle fouled the inside face of the axlebox. So I would recommend the Blackbeet...

Re: Peco Individulay Pandrol fixings - suitable for P4?

I have used this form of construction for P4 track. I used the Peco clips, Peco wooden sleepers and Peco code 82 rail. The track is on a super elevated curves and has been down now for 25 years. In that time I have not experienced any problems with it.

Re: New diesels

I have converted a Bachmann Blue Pullman to P4 in November of last year. For the none drive axles I used two types of Blackbeetle 14mm wheels. First type where the none insulated variety [i.e no insulating bushes to either wheel - these are available to special order], the second type where the norm...
