Re: P4 wheels centre outside boss

IIRC Colin only produces a single length axle for inside framed locos.

I have had a few axles that appear slightly short when fitted to wheels with thick bosses.
It is not a problem, just fill the indentation with filler before painting.

An enjoyable show. Arrived just gone 10:30 left just before closing time.
I ended up doing lots of talking and shopping, but no impulse buys this year.
Good work by Terry.

Fill the gap in the top of the hook where the top chain link goes with a piece of wire or a minute dab of solder.

Source of 1.5mm carbon brushes and springs.

I have a dead Bachman motor on which I would like to fit new carbon brushes and springs.
Does any one know of a source of 1.5mm diameter carbon brushes and springs?

Re: 16" Std Bagnall 0-6-0 industrial tank

Sorry for the delay in answering the wheels question. The wheels on Empress are shown as 3' 6.5" diameter. I think I have counted the spokes as 11. Looking at the Gibson wheels list Collin does a 3' 6" wheel 10 spoke 10" throw. I have not visited the archives yet to confirm the wheel ...

Re: 16" Std Bagnall 0-6-0 industrial tank

Steve the range was bought by Kalgarin Models, who as far as I know has no interest in selling 4mm kits, or reintroducing the range, or letting anyone else use the information to do so.
Hence my plan to start from scratch.

GWR P22 Ballast hopper. Lot numbers.

I am trying to identify the build history of the GWR ballast wagon diagram P22. I have the following information: Commenced 1945 Lot1501 60016/9/23/37, 60121/46/92, 60305/9/14. Re: Last orders for an etched chassis kit for the Hornby 0-4-0 Peckett.

Firstly my thanks to every one who bought a chassis kit from the first batch. This far exceeded my expectations. Now as the revised heading indicates I am giving notice that I will not be accepting any more orders for the 0-4-0 Peckett chassis kit after the 30th September 2019, as I wish to get back...

Re: Crossing vee soldering problem

Try making a matching triangle of ply to push between the two rails that make the V when soldering.
This should prevent any change in angle.

G.W.R P22 / BR(W) Herring ballast hopper.

As some of you may be aware my holy grail search has been for a number of years to be able to find enough information to have a 4mm kit produced for the P22 ballast hopper. I have had some assistance in the past which I appreciated but have never been able to find any definitive information to produ...

I prefer to start from scratch using original information rather than complicate matters by using a chassis from a different locomotive and kit producer.

16" Std Bagnall 0-6-0 industrial tank

As the Impetus kit range is no longer available I have been researching and cogitating about producing a kit for the Bagnall 16" x 24" cylinder 0-6-0 saddle tank. See the picture below which I have borrowed from Roys Rail Page. (http://roysrailpage.000webhostapp.com/) Unfortunately I could...

Re: N7 Chassis Question

I do not understand why you would want a chassis to work for both P4 and 00 standards given the large difference in gauge.
To meet you objectives you will have to build the chassis with 00 spacers and use a fair few washers on your P4 wheel sets.

Re: Methods for Removable Loco Wheelsets.

Brian,

If you are looking to build a loco like a pannier where the brake pull rods are on the outside of the wheel faces no problem.

But if your loco has the brake pull rods inbetween the wheels then you will need to make the brake rigging removeable.

Re: Methods for Removable Loco Wheelsets.

You will need cut outs in the chassis so that the wheel bearings axles and gearbox can drop out. If you are using scraper pick ups, the base for them will also need to be demountable - screwed to frame spacers possible? Also you will need to build your brake hangars and linkage so that it can unclip...

Dave,

1) Do you add any weight to the wagons?

2) How do they behave when propelled?

3) Any other mods?
