Re: Scaleforum 2015

My layout Lower Exbury will be at Scaleforum this year, operated by the very capable team of my parents Jane and Brian Pearce and my brother David. Scaleforum may well be the last exhibition for my layout, but I hope it won't be. I am putting it up for sale (please see my separate post in Sales) and...

All change for Lower Exbury

It is with a heavy heart that I wish to announce that I am putting my P4 layout, Lower Exbury, up for sale. Lower Exbury was created for one of Chris Challis's challenges on layout building and was first shown at Railwells in 2011. Since then it has visited various exhibitions around the country inc...

Re: Scaleforum 2014

I hope everyone has a great time at Scaleforum this year. I'm really sorry that work pressures meant that I couldn't bring Lower Exbury along as planned. It is the first Scaleforum I am missing for more years than I care to think about and I was looking forward to coming as an exhibitor. But life ju...

Re: The Chris Kedgley Memorial Skills Day - 8 March 2014

What a wonderful memorial for a truly lovely gentleman and a fantastic opportunity for people to get to learn new skills. Having had the honour of a day's master class with Tony Hill working on my layout I can say it is an opportunity not to be missed if you have the chance to attend (if you need to...

Re: Scaleforum 2013

Just wanted to add my own congratulations to Terry and the rest of the team for another great Scaleforum this weekend. We travelled up from South Devon and stayed at the Premier Inn at Tring (which I would recommend) and that gave us a very quick trip in to Aylesbury on the Sunday morning. We stayed...

Re: Scaleforum 2013

As a brand new member I haven't attended model railway exhibitions of any kind that I can remember. Scaleforum 2013 might be the "best" but Aylesbury isn't particularly easy to get to from Yeovil by road or rail, however Wells is just 3/4 hour up the road so my first ever (probably) exhib...

Re: Scaleforum 2013

When it comes to the location of society events something that does need to be considered is how convenient it is for the organiser(s) of the event. Bear in mind that sorting out a show involves a reasonable amount of co-ordination with the venue itself and it is hardly practical or fair to expect t...

Re: Scalefour North 2013

I had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend at Scalefour North with my layout Lower Exbury. It was only its third exhibition outing and it was great to receive so many lovely comments about it and to have a chance to chat to so many people. A huge thanks to all the organizers for their efforts, it was as a...

Re: Tools, and how they are used, discuss

I came into the hobby with minimal technical skills - my teenage years at school were in the 1980s and in those days, unless you kicked up a fuss, because I was female I did needlework and cookery, while the boys did woodwork, metalwork and technical drawing. Despite my Dad teaching the boys subject...

Re: Scaleforum I have known

Jane was the only lady there at the inaugural meeting Wow Dad, you really knew how to treat Mum on Valentine's Day didn't you  As for all the men in the Society not managing to be in one room at the same time, I happily stand corrected. Seeing the photos of Ken's shed brings back good memories...

Re: Scaleforum I have known

Phillip has forgotten that Jane and Jo were always at those shows, Jane with me on Membership and Jo running the Tea Trolley, usually at a profit! Back in the day when Beth Evans was running the Society Stores we used to pop round to Clive and Beth's house quite often - it was noted that when Beth,...

No photographs from me either - I was too busy serving the tea and coffee in those days.
