Re: Scaleforum 2013

Well as I said. What exactly are your ideas for Scaleforum next year in order to increase the numbers? None at all? I guess you think that because I haven't bothered to discuss anything with you personally? Why would I when I can talk to Terry directly? Cheers Jim Ah! I see! Your ideas are secret! ...

Re: Scaleforum 2013

John, I wonder what is the point of you being "all ears" :D when you continue to demonstrate an inability to correctly comprehend written English. I was expecting some ideas from you not more insults? But it would seem you have none? PS: I am just a builder and so maybe written English is...

Re: Scaleforum 2013

I never said that you were decrying that members should be encouraged to attend, I said that you were decrying that members should feel obliged to attend. I believe that is correct? I also only said that you would apparently prefer scaleforum to be a members only event as that is what rmweb is and ...

PS: More ideas:---Any Non Member who joins the society at the show gets his entrance fee refunded? Hi John, This already happens, and has done at both Scaleforum and Scalefour North for a number of years. It's even specifically advertised at shows by our indefatigable Membership Secretary... Re: Scaleforum 2013

This entire 17 page thread has become an exercise in market research. Having followed it from the beginning, the only reason for not attending that I can think of, which has not been mentioned so far, is sheer cussedness; an attribute applicable only to very few of those who share their views on th...

OK I am going to brainstorm!! There are just two shows each year that are unmissable to me. The first is Scaleforum and the second is RMWeb Taunton. Re: Scaleforum 2013

If it was a Saturday show we could expect the Saturday attendance figures plus a proportion of the Sunday lot? Trade sales on the Saturday would be proportionately higher without the extra overhead of an extra nights accommodation and grub etc? At least that is what I found when I talked to many of...

Tim V wrote:Incentives?

Let me see, it takes about three hours to set up, and about an hour and a half to break down. So four and a half hours of intensive work, for about seven hours of running.

Bit of a no brainer, the answer is no, I don't do one day shows.

I still wonder about a one day show....... Wonder away John :) It won't happen. It is not worth it for large layouts and most of the trade would not be interested I can see that it wont happen. Re: Metropolitan's phosphoric flux to be available at Scalef

Make up the quantity you desire by diluting as necessary with tap water (or distilled water in hard water areas). That's a bit vague for a recipe, ;) What % acid do you use in the diluted result? And what do you use for a wetting agent? Thanks Keith No, It's not vague. Decide what strength flux you...

Re: Metropolitan's phosphoric flux to be available at Scalef

I don't "sell" it. £3 a pint covers the cost and bottle and I am happy to let modellers have some should they so wish. Anyway, I can't understand why any serious modeller would buy those silly little expensive pots of flux you see around when it is so easy and cheap to brew ones own. TIP: ...

Re: Scaleforum 2013

it's difficult for me to comment on this subject. On the one hand the monetary deficit with regard to continuing to hold the show in Leatherhead is clearly unsustainable due to the avarice of the new owners of the leisure centre. But I do not like the thought of sharing the stage with RailEx as I be...
