Re: NAG Meeting 12th October 2017

Not mocking, Len, just very confused by the use of 'suspended' in this context. I suppose I could try to claim that it was predictive text from the spell checker, changing supported to suspended, but approaching senility would probably be nearer the truth. Nice to know, however, that some people do...

I wonder whether you could persuade Nigel to post some information about his model of Cupar station. As a local resident I admit to more than a passing interest! Allan F Allan Nigel does not currently access the Forum but I will endeavour to get some more detailed information from him and post it u...

Re: NAG Meeting 11 May 2017

This was a terrific explanation on the mysteries of constructing a sweetly running chassis using a variety of methods and products and I thank both Howard and David for putting it all together and explaining it all so succinctly. We are truly blessed in the Scalefour Society to have so many skilled ...

Am I correct in believing that this Thursday's meeting will be a manicure night? If so I will definitely bring my files for shaping and my airbrush for nail art.

NAG meetings are something else.

Re: Mechanical Lubricators and other Stuff

Len. I looked at the Markit range and they do some very nice looking lubricators and valves machined in brass, so happy days there. Dave Dave The ones I still have are whitemetal, so I must have got them from somewhere else, maybe Comet Models part number LS40, which are now available through Wizra...

Try Markits. I received some very clean whitemetal castings of Silvertown lubricators from them. Their catalogue can be seen on line with the various items well illustrated.

Re: NAG Meeting 16th June 2016

Eight members attended this cosy meeting with plenty of banter and a bit of modelling. John popped in to say that he wasn’t coming (!). He had part of his home flooded and was on his way to get a submersible pump. Now there’s dedication for you. Bob was having a riveting time punching pimples in a ...

Re: Two Twelve Year Old Trainspotters and Others on Their Way to Grantham 1962

Thanks to all for the suggestions and I enjoyed the brief bit of nostalgia too. Having looked up the Modelu website, stared open mouthed at the quality of the figures on show and handled a couple of Modelu figures of Bevis at the NAG meeting on Thursday night, I think I will wait to see what, if any...

Re: Two Twelve Year Old Trainspotters and Others on Their Way to Grantham 1962

When you went spotting did you wear your school blazer with a mop of hair sticking out from under your school cap, or did you change into civvies in the form of a duffle coat with your bits and bobs carried in a duffle bag? I think either of these outfits would date a scene from the 50's or 60's. I...

... Does anybody know of a suitable source of 4mm:foot scale figures of seated passengers and standing boys (early teens)? There seem to be a lot of gaudy HO figures around. I can repaint them but will they be too small?... But I would have thought the point about young teenagers is that most of th...

Two Twelve Year Old Trainspotters and Others on Their Way to Grantham 1962

I'm in the process of constructing a model of a typical steam hauled (L1 tank), non-corridor, Nottingham Vic to Grantham suburban train in the early 60s (nostalgia aint wot it used to be!). The train currently comprises an L1 tank and a LMS Stanier 57' non corridor Brake Third but two more coaches a...
