Re: Telephone cabinet signage

Tim,

Surely you mean "SIGNALMAN"

Signaller is this awful modern parlance.

Just thought I'd point it out.

IOW Exhibition

New Mere was exhibited at the Island Show held at the Medina Centre and drew many favourable comments, especially as it was the only finescale layout present other than Maurice Hoppers micro 3/16th masterpiece.

Good work Flymo.

It would be interesting to know what work you did to the gearbox as I have found this a troublesome area in the past?

Cheers.

Re: Burnham Signals

Just to close this thread are some pictures of the installed signals at the Wells Exhibition. The really hard work of getting them working was done by the indefatigable John Palmer, who, along with Gordon, took the brunt of the preparation labours to get the layout up to exhibition standards. I woul...

Re: Burnham Signals

Hello John Thanks for the comments - the black bracket is, of course, painting what I assumed the colour to be and not what it actually was! The home signals do indeed still have some work to do but the end is in site. Regarding actuation, I'm playing around with servos' but am not totally convinced...

Re: Problem with non-drying paint

Hello John Your chassis looks very good indeed. If mine is 1/2 as good I'll be happy! My chassis in the 'photo is an earlier incarnation - shown purely to illustrate the etch primer finish - it has been dismantled because of further considerations by yours truly. I'll keep you posted. The notion of ...

Re: Problem with non-drying paint

Morning John For what its worth I've been using Halfords etching primer with some success. I also use a hair dryer to start the drying process, just on a medium heat and only for a couple of minutes. I made add the dryer is surplus to requirements and not Jacqui's current machine! The frames are Gib...

You could always 'roll your own'

Look for Chris Pendleton writings in MRJ. I use home made to operate Dinham and they work fine. I also took his advice and run on 20 volts.

It took me a while to cotton on to using axle spacing washers, 4cw 701a..

The result gives perfect b to b . Well, for me any way.

Visit of Derek Smith

Special occasion today as we welcomed Derek on a day trip to the Island. We met at Chris''s house and consumed Earl Gray, donuts and cookies. Needless to say Gonzo, Chris''s Jack Russell, ate his fair share! The conversation was, of course, predominately signalling. Famous layouts of yesteryear also...

Re: Fitting 3 links to Bachmann 16T Wagons

I've used sheet lead in wagons as a dummy floor since I don't know when but kept very quiet about it because it didn't seem in the 'finescale' ethos! I feel better now! I could never figure out how some chaps managed to cram 40gms in the limited space underneath a wagon so, realising my limitations,...
