Awesome piece of work as usual! That shot of the underframe is beautiful.

Re: BR Snow Plough - Hurst Models Kit

Springing: The limit of my abilities was to get the wheels going round reasonable freely. Ted just took them off to his workbench and in what seemed like seconds everything was perfect. I think chassis just see him coming and mutter to themselves that its time to sit up and face front. Tony :D Bril...

BR Snow Plough - Hurst Models Kit

So I won the Hurst Models Snow Plough kit on ebay and decided to give it a go as the construction looked pretty straight forward. I start it on a Sunday and had it to this point by the Thursday evening, that includes getting the springing working too! It has 00 wheels in for now but will have P4 whe...

This link https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=19&lat=51.5114&lon=-0.0664&layers=173&b=1 gives you a rather better version of the nls maps to explore. You can scroll through the whole area, zoom in and out and the slide control allows instant comparison with current arial photos. C...

Re: North Greenwich - minimum space project?

Really interesting history around that area of the city. I live nearby during the week while working in London and always wondered what existed before the DLR around that part of town. I pass from Canning Town to Bank every day an on the right hand side (heading towards Bank) there are two curves on...

Re: The Christmas Model Railway Show - Manchester 2018

Black Lion Crossing is an awesome layout - based on the Wrexham area where I spent alot of my childhood and student days so know the prototypes well.

If you go to the exhibition, it's worth spending alot of time at this layout, it's well worth seeing and highly recommended viewing.

Re: High Level 03 Chassis Build

Interesting project. Roughly how long has it taken you to build the chassis? Are the wheels sprung too? Thank you Gareth Been building it for around 3 and a bit months up to now, mybee 3 or 4, 2 hour evening sessions a week. The front 2 axels are compensated and the rear axle is fixed. It would loo...

Now edited since the above test line got through OK Thanks for the comprehensive response below to my disappointment. Several days on, I don't recall which unfitted freight trains I saw without brake vans. It has been suggested by a chum that I may have seen fitted trains where the detail of vac pi...

Re: Warley 2017

I was disappointed by Mostyn. I watched it twice for about 6 minutes each time. On both occasions there were derailments that stopped all movements. Also on both occasions they were running un-fitted freight trains (surprising in BR times) with no brake van. I was so peeved by these trangressions t...

DCC is not my thing, but evidently your display is linked to timetable information on which I assume Mostyn's operation is based, and that does interest me because I perpetrated the software that displays information about the timetable sequence upon which we operate our model of Burnham-on-Sea. It was quite impressive when I saw it at the Gaydon show. It is also something that I expect members of MERG would be interested if one of your group is a member to submit it. Thank you Kelly :) I popped to the MERG stand at Gaydon and told them about it, explained how it worked and if they wanted ...

Re: DCC Train Information System

Chris,

Thanks for your feedback.

We're looking to build on the current solution and expand what the system can do, we have a few ideas already and once the club layout Mauch Chunk is up and everything is plugged in we can see what additional data we can pull off the wire :D .

Thank you

DCC Train Information System

So my background is IT, a software engineer / network engineer / devops / technical architect / solution architect of 10+ years and I've always been intrigued with the DCC system that our club layouts use and what could be picked up "off the wire". Using a NCE DCC Analyser (now unfortunate...
