Re: Hornby Crosti 9F

Many thanks for all the replies to my query.
I will probably utilise the Dave Bradwell chassis, as I think five coupled wheels in in rigid P4 chassis is asking for trouble-certainly from what Eddie Ford observed in his email to me.

Hornby Crosti 9F

I have a Hornby Crosti 9F model that I would like to convert to P4.
Are there S4 modellers who have completed this conversion, and if so, how was this achieved?
Can this conversion work if just the wheels are changed out, with no suspension?

Converting Tender Chassis

I have a DJH LNER 8-Wheel Tender. This has an inside bearing chassis; the tender frames simply sit on this. Has any member converted one of these tenders to P4, and if so, how. I would like some ideas on springing/compensating this chassis to give an economical P4 conversion-it seems wasteful to jus...

Locomotive and Coach Suspension Queries and advice

I am converting RTR locomotives to P4. It appears that there are P4 locomotives running with straight wheel changeouts-ie no suspension. I would be interested to hear members views on this, as I wish to convert my stock as economically as possible-ie use as much of the model components as possible. ...

Ultrasonic Cleaners

I have purchased an ultrasonic cleaner and am using it for cleaning up soldered assemblies-brass, N/S and WM. Very useful, and a real time saver compared to a toothbrush and glass fibre pencil. i am using an alkaline based cleaning liquid-baking powder and water, and would like to know of other user...

Re: Tender chassis

Many thanks for replying to my query. I should be able to select a chassis kit, build and install under a body as a bolt on unit, as intended.

Tender chassis

I have a number of tender kits to be prepared for P4. I have seen references to P4 tender chassis kits fitted to kits. I would like to know who manufactures these, and any comments or observations before I order examples.

Re: Ultrasonic Cleaners

Thank you for taking the trouble. One reason you may not of heard of Tarn Off is due to the fact that I live in Melbourne. I will try the methods that you described, and report the results.

Ultrasonic Cleaners

I normally use Tarn Off-a proprietary brass cleaner to neutralise flux acidity and as an aid for paint preparation. I have obtained an ultransonic cleaning bath to speed up and improve this area. I usually use Carr's fluxes and solders. Can members advise on their procedures for cleaning up soldered...
