The software I wrote for WFRM is called The MILF  It handles fiddle yard trains - randomises them to make things more interesting for the operators.

Re: Distant Signal Locking

it is always wrong to generalise and and every rule has its exception, but I will stick my neck out and say I can think of no circumstances where a single lever worked more than one arm on separate posts (ie I am excepting co-acting arms). In the case of inner and outer distants, there was always a...

Re: Improving Color Light Signal Components

So you have to keep sniping don't you. You cannot help yourself can you............ What a shame that an excellent thread about some fine signals has to be spoilt. How terribly sad and unfortunate. It was a joke (which would have died) until you got involved but then YOU have to spoil it. Sorry for...

Re: Improving Color Light Signal Components

If the surface mount LEDs are available as tri-colour LEDs, then might we soon see replicas of the new-type Dorman LED heads? Horsetan, Am building a tri colour light signal at this time. Beta unit works like a champ. I sent Mike Turner, a member of the WFRM modelling group, a final assembly of scr...

Re: Transition from semaphore to MAS (and vv)

Meant to answer this a bit quicker ! The context for this is the same as my question on distant signal locking - wanting to simulate the operation of signalling using a computer based interlocking, controlled with an IECC style computer screen. How many IECCs did you get involved with Keith ;) I rat...

Re: Transition from semaphore to MAS (and vv)

Indeed those are possible situations, but the question concerned transition from semaphore to MAS where 2 aspect red/greens are not the norm. Cheers Really - or the ones you know of ? - Chester PSB has 2-aspect on "my" line, MAS = multiple aspect and 2 is multiple ... so my comments are p...

We use well over 150 of them and have only had a couple of mechnical failures, just go for it and sort problems out if they happen :?

Re: Distant Signal Locking

When the distant is reversed it holds all the stop signal levers reversed, it was an "amusing" trick of mine to knock one of the home levers out of the catch handle and watch the signalman replace the distant and then have to dive for the home lever to stop it flying back in front of the d...

Re: Transition from semaphore to MAS (and vv)

Late arriving to this thread. to start a colour light area either with a two aspect (green/yellow) colour light acting rather like a distant signal (the next signal being a 3- or 4-aspect colour light), the next signal could be a 2 aspect R/G or (if signal spacing is critical) to use a 3-aspect colo...

Re: Droppers on track

Awful complicated P4 aint it?! ;) No! You should have 2 droppers per rail regardless of the scale/gauge! ;) ;) ;) Cheers Jim Agreed - Widnes does, even on a 1" length I had to graft in - and its "only" OO :D Under rail every time for me, two wires per rail, never had a failure.

Panel Pro is good but nowhere near as good as RR&Co if you want prototypical route setting, and RR&Co can also be configured to do semaphore with software levers  :) and a full implementation of the mechanical locking 8-)

Re: Turnout wiring / soldering

One or two basic questions , firstly Does RailRoad and Co run on Mac's or is it purely Windows? Windows only I'm afraid Is there a book or website that would show how to go about this? Tony's posted the link to Freiwald, the WFRM website has a simple tutorial for RR&Co. We have German made cont...

Layout Control Software

Hi guys, a brief summary of our control techniques, if anyone wants to know more it can be expanded into different threads. We use a couple of minor variations but I will stick to the one I was working on yesterday :) All our points are actuated by Tortoises, this includes the Peco points on the OO ...
