Re: Best tool for the job

Thanks again Philip. Now that I’m progressing from RTR conversions to etched kits, I suspect that there is a lot to learn.

Best tool for the job

Apologies for what is no doubt a simple question but I have to increase the hole in the bearing below from 2mm to 3mm. Is the best tool a 3mm drill or a reamer to take the hole out to 3mm?

Re: 2019 S4 North

Thanks to all for a cracking show yesterday. Loads to see, lots to talk about and the highlight, despite it being set 70 years to early for my normal interests, was Dewsbury with what have to be the best looking baseboards I've ever seen...

Re: Wagons for South Pelaw Junction

Hi Allan, One of the reasons I'm getting involved is that, with a 40' * 15' exhibition layout that is entirely dependent on MERG modules, there needs to be more than one person who knows that they are doing should something go wrong although we've been lucky on the two outings we've had so far. For ...

Re: Wagons for South Pelaw Junction

Thanks again Allan. Yes, they are for the tip end of the colliery sidings and, as such, won't be required to move so there is no compensation. Just need to make up the chains for the couplings and they'll be done. As for the fencing, there is an awful lot of it, all the work of one man and still mor...

We're very fortunate to have been offered the space. There are a couple of Ts to cross and Is to dot but it should be home for the layout soon.

Re: South Pelaw Junction

One of the reasons for the lack of progress on the layout itself is that I really have no where to put it up in it's entirety. This is about to change as I've been offered (along with a friend who models in O gauge) this space: http://southpelawjunction.co.uk/wp/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/New-Home.j...

The model of the bridge was finished a couple of weeks ago. Thanks Allan, the guys are certainly very keen to ensure that operation and signalling are correct. I've joined the group very late so these wagons are my first contribution to the layout.

Re: Wagons for South Pelaw Junction

As well as working on my own P4 version of South Pelaw which will soon have a permanent home meaning I can properly crack on with it, I'm also involved with a group of EM gauge modellers who have built their own version of junction as it was in the last 50s and early 60s which can be seen here: http...

In the photo below, on the first wagon in the train, what would the significance of the yellow stripes on the body be?

Nearly finished, capping stones to be done and some cable supports on the front of the spans still to be done... The grey 'road' surface in picture 1 won't be seen at all once finished as there will be a path with lots of vegetation either side once I'm done. http://southpelawjunction.co.uk/wp/wp-co...

Re: South Pelaw Junction

Stone work (with the exception of the caps for the piers) is now complete, base coat is on and weathering is well underway. The grey sections at the bottom will be underground once the bridge is on the layout. Next up is some more details on the spans and to respray them in the light gray the carrie...
