Fylde Area Group
The Fylde Area Group Meets every third Thursday of the month, near Preston in Lancashire, any members in the Blackpool, Chorley, Lancaster, Leyland, Preston, Southport, Formby, South Cumbria and Wensleydale areas are most welcome. Normal start time is 19:30 to 20:00. Please contact the Fylde Area Group co-ordinator for detailed directions.
We have a good steady team of regular members, who have quite diverse interests and differing skill levels. We normally have 1 or 2 theme nights a year where a member will present some topic associated with the hobby, in addition to a slide/hotpot supper near Christmas. The remaining meetings are usually run and natter nights with tea, coffee and biscuits.
We do not have a group layout or activity, but we do run a members layout, which is a model of Preston (North Union Side), set in the 1930's, it is as yet some way off completion. But does give us the opportunity to run on a 32' by 15' multi-track circular layout, allowing plenty of scope for running-in and haulage testing. The minimum radius is 3'9", which is a good test for a steam locomotive.
We are not planning any exhibition attendance and are not associated with any other group, although members are not just limited to S4, we are open to other keen local modellers.
