Scaleforum 2009 - Flintfield - Vincent de Bode
Flintfield is an imaginary place in Suffolk, on the GER and modelled in the year 1910.
The trackplan and most of the buildings are based on Eye. Operation is a bit unusual; the goods yard is operated from behind the
layout, the operator standing on a platform (the transport crates) peeping over the backdrop, while the passenger loop is operated from the front of the layout (please don't confuse the operator ...) It is not prototypical; one engine in steam would be, but it is nice to have an excuse to show a lot of rolling stock and a lot of shunting.
Features to note include:
- one-piece backdrop (painted by Len de Vries)
- baseboard joints not easily visible (thanks to jigsaw construction)
- altered AJ couplings which are made from 0.2mm steel to make them as unobtrusive as possible
- slow bouncing signals
