The latest etched 4 mm kit from London Road Models is of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Barton Wright 4-4-0. 110 of these attractive locomotives were manufactured Sharp Stewart, Vulcan Foundry and Neilsons between 1880 and 1887.

The kit is etched in brass, with nickel silver for the loco and tender chassis. Turned sprung buffers are supplied, together with lost wax brass castings for the majority of the detail fittings. The locomotive is based on the Vulcan Foundry version, although the Sharp Stewart locomotives can also be readily modelled. Spacers for 00, EM and P4 are provided. Wheels, gears and motor are required to complete the model.

The earlier 1780-gallon short wheelbase tender, with the option of the Sharp Stewart Patent combined weather plate, toolbox and water fillers, as well as the later 2000-gallon version are available.

The L & Y 4-4-0 locomotive kit, complete with tender is priced at £85. The tender kits are available separately, at £26.50. They can obtained from London Road Models at selected exhibitions, or by mail order.
