THE SCALEFOUR SOCIETY 18.83 LAYOUT CHALLENGE |
TETNEY by Gordon Luck
The GNR planned to build a line to connect Cleethorpes and Mablethorpe
along the
North Lincolnshire coast. The line was never constructed, but if it had
been
would have routed through the Tetney and Tetney Lock area and may have
been a
joint GCR/GNR venture.
Enterprising fishing boat owners would soon have started to develop
harbour
facilities at Tetney Lock as a means of getting the fish to market
earlier than
if landed further up the Humber estuary at Grimsby.
The layout represents this line as operated in the mid 1950s during the
early
steam to diesel transition with passenger traffic and freight
comprising mainly
general goods, coal, fish and grain.
