THE SCALEFOUR SOCIETY 18.83 LAYOUT CHALLENGE

MELLIN SIDINGS
by David Simmonite and Graham Gatehouse

Mellin sidings is a fictional interchange between the canal and railway somewhere in the west country. It is designed to be a small space shunting layout using "Sprat and Winkle" couplings for hands off operation. It can be transported in one car thus saving on travel costs, an important item for exhibition managers. It is set in the 1920's/1930's period allowing different stock to be used. All the trackwork and buildings are scratch built and operation is by a card system to ensure variety in traffic movements.
