THE SCALEFOUR SOCIETY 18.83 LAYOUT CHALLENGE |
Leopold Road Goods by David Hawkins
Leopold Road is set in the East End of London
shortly after the Second World War. The layout consists of a high level general
goods yard (on arches) and a low-level coal yard with a siding to a factory. The
high-level yard is fed from a cassette fiddle yard. A small loco servicing
facility is provided. The low-level yard is fed by a small turntable fiddle
yard, which acts in lieu of pointwork.
The townscape (the design of which is still fluid) will include a shopping
street, industry, pub(s) and a British Road Services depot.
The layout consists of two independent shunting layouts accommodating perhaps 40
wagons and 4 or 5 locos.
