Sedgefield by R R Barrington Believed to be the first P4 layout featured in a mainstream magazine, the article was published in the Model Railway Constructor in October 1967.
Ashburton by R A Ganderton Ashburton, a P4 Society project, was built by Dick Ganderton, Ken Cottle and John Turner and we used
the large scale OS map, GWR PW drawings and actual site measurements to ensure its accuracy.
Exhibited as a layout under construction at the MRC exhibition in 1969.

Bembridge by the Model Railway Club Inspired by Ashburton a small group of members of the MRC built Bembridge and exhibited it at the MRC show in Easter 1971. This was the first fully-finished P4 layout to be exhibited anywhere and in one respect has remained unique - the trackwork, built for the Bembridge team  by Ken Cottle and Dick Ganderton using full size drawings taken from the original permanent way drawings - was a true sleeper for sleeper, rail-length for rail-length copy of the prototype, warts and all!
