This award was presented by Joe
Brook Smith to encourage and give recognition to outstanding examples of detail modelling
which have commercial potential. For 1982 and 83 the subjects were specified, subsequently
the subject was open but the items were required to be commercially available.

| The Model
Railway Journal endowed the MRJ Chalice to mark the Society's tenth anniversary in 1986
and it is awarded annually at Scaleforum to the model which, in the judges opinion, most
represents excellence in 4mm scale modelling and best exemplifies the objects and ideals
of the Society. |

This trophy
was awarded by Andy Mullins with the following aims:
1. To encourage good modellers to strive for high standards of workmanship in 4mm scale
etched brass rolling stock kit construction.
2. To encourage the less well known modellers to present their work for
consideration.
2. To support the Scalefour Society in its pursuit of excellence.
Models have to be entered unpainted to reveal the standard of workmanship. |
