Tyneside MRE 12/13th November 2022

Postby charliemiller77 » Fri Oct 21, 2022 6:59 pm

The Newcastle and District M.R.S. exhibition is being held once again at Jesmond Park Academy, Newton Road, Jesmond NE7 7HN.
Of interest to society members we have Scott Road in P4 and 18 other layouts in most scales and gauges from N to O and beyond.
High Level Kits will be attending as well as other traders of a more general nature .
NEFG in attendance and specialists such as NELPG. NERA. and MERG.
This year we unfortunately lost a fine modeller and former club member, Paul Smith. His family donated a large collection of books and many O gauge items, which will be for sale on the club stand at reasonable prices. His interests were wide including NER, Caley, NBR, L&Y, and American.
See ukmodelshops.co.uk events exhibition calendar for further exhibition details.

A canny show, good to talk to both Charlie and Martin. Standout layouts for me were Canada Street in EM (always a favourite) and the tiny but wonderfully atmospheric (very much in the Ian Rice mould) Hallbankgate.

John,

Intrigued by your description of Hallbankgate as "tiny and atmospheric". Sounds just up my street. Any pics please?

On of my GERS modelling chums was at the show, and also said “Hallbankgate” was his stand out layout.

He sent a few pictures on WhatsApp, and it does look very good indeed.

Best,
Paul

Hallbankgate lives up to the usual very high standard Ian always achieves with his cameos.
Thanks for the link to those pictures on RMWeb, amazing how many scenes can be squeezed out of a 3ft layout.
Get along to Workington next weekend to see it.
At the other extreme will be Fencehouses, the largest 2mm finescale layout in the country, allegedly.
Charlie
