PCB strip

Postby steve howe » Fri Jul 07, 2023 2:50 pm

Can anyone recommend a supplier (UK) of PCB strip which matches the standard Brooke-Smith ply sleepers please? I'm assuming to get a match it would have to be the thickness of the sleeper plus the rivet head?

I'm not sure where to obtain thin PCB but I was given varying thicknesses a while back so it must be obtainable somewhere. I'll have a measure of what I have tomorrow. I mainly used 0.9mm (if I remember correctly) in the storage sidings, cut up with a diamond blade in a small table saw.

Thanks Philip, I measured a sleeper with rivet in place and it equates to around 1.4mm. I'll look at Marcway's site tomorrow, they used to carry a fairly wide range.

Steve,

I've had a look at my stocks and I used 1mm for all my track. Where there was a variation in rail level I used thin card or thin cork.

I have 0.2mm, 0.4mm, 0.55mm, 0.75mm, 1mm and 1.6mm. Everything but the size you require so I'd suggest packing, I've never come across 1.4mm.

Also PM sent.

Steve,
I may be able to help you. Please let me know the exact thickness that you require and I will see what I can find.It will come in a part of a sheet, which will then have to be cut to size, which in itself is not that easy as Philip knows!
Regards David

That's very kind, thanks for your offers Phil and David, I have contacted Marcway about this and await a reply, if it goes nowhere I will follow you up!

Thanks again

1.5mm is a popular thickness for FR4 PCB, plenty available on that auction site.
