I have just got stuck in on a project I have had on the back burner for ages, producing a model of one of the Zambia Railways locos I used to work with. I got a kick start from following up a question about African locos on RMweb last week, and to keep my momentum up I am documenting the work on my website at http://www.norgrove.me.uk/U20C-project/u20c.html
Here is the subject
and here the starting point
Comments will be welcome.

Re: U20C project
Interesting project, Keith. I take it that the scale of the model is 4mm and that the track gauge of the ZR is 3ft 6inches? Only because your web page didn't make it clear.

Re: U20C project
Jonathon,
You are right on, that bit of info is on my home page if you were to approach by the proper route, I suppose I should repeat it on the project page.
I have just completed the mechanical part of the project and the loco is running again, although at this point I only have 2 feet of 14mm track.
See
More on the website
Next will be to sort out the couplers and the cosmetic stuff.

Re: U20C project
A bit more workshop time has resulted in the lighting getting sorted and the trucks slimmed down.

Re: U20C project
Thanks for the update, Keith - I had a look at your web page now and found the steps interesting! Looking forward to the finished model, it's not difficult to produce your own waterslide transfers for the ZR logo these days!
Not many people appear to model non-UK locomotives to 4mm scale so your project is interesting. I do know that there is "American OO" with stock at 4mm scale and track at 19mm!
