Wooden brake shoes and cab flooring

Postby David Knight » Sun Apr 07, 2024 7:57 pm

I am currently not in immediate danger of being able to paint the HighLevel Black Hawthorn I’ve been working on but a couple of questions have occurred to me. What colour would the wooden brake shoes be either as new or weathered and what colour would the decking of the cab floor be? I intend to portray the engine as well maintained and cared for rather than clapped out and grotty.

TIA

David

16440 at Butterley has just got a new cab floor. It was unpainted wood but will quickly turn a grey/black colour
Ordsall Road (BR(E)), Forge Mill Sidings (BR(M)), Kirkcliffe Coking Plant (BR(E)), Swanage (BR (S)) and Heaby (LMS/MR). Acquired Thorneywood (GNR). Still trying to "Keep the Balance".
