Wills clapboard

Postby Hardwicke » Sat Mar 02, 2024 1:47 pm

Anyone know the width of the planks on the Wills Clapboarding sheet?. The Peco description doesn't say.
I need to check for a goods yard hut and a Midland Signal Box.

When I was laying in a stock of the Wills sheets I passed on that one because Evergreen offers an excellent range of clapboard siding sheets. If your Wills search gets you nowhere you might take a look at https://evergreenscalemodels.com/collec ... ard-siding

I will look at my stock and see if I have a sheet I can measure. However in the past, I have found that, like a lot of the Wills scenic sheet range, they are more suited to 7mm scale models than 4mm, and I certainly used the clapboard sheets for a 7mm shed where they looked just right.

Assuming this photo shows the full height of the sheet, 75mm high with 30 rows.

Another vote for the Evergreen stuff here though. To me the Wills product looks like something you might find on a barn repaired by several generations of farmers with whatever was lying about, not something built by the Midland.

I'm more concerned about the size of each individual board fot the shed I'm researching.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does the Wills equate to 9 1/2 inches wide?
What size is the Evergreen?

The Evergreen sheets are 12"x6".

And on the prototype, boards could vary between 110mm wide up to 150mm. Unsurprisingly, wider boards more common on larger buildings.
