Shropshire & Herefordshire Area Group (SHAG)
The group meets each week on a Monday night in various members houses in Ludlow (second and fourth Mondays), near Knighton (first and fifth Mondays) and Bishops Castle (third Monday). The group consists of between 6 and 12 'regulars' and a number of people who visit occasionally from as far afield as the Lake District. All meeting locations have working P4 layouts with run-round loops ranging from 60 foot in length to over a scale mile!
Members of the group have a shared interest in finescale modelling and the group has, over the years, worked on many group projects including making Trackwork, Controllers, RSU's and Locomotives. With around 30 working locomotives of one type or another between the members a wealth of experience has been built up in making running P4 layouts. Helping exhibit Adavoyle (of Tony Miles fame) and Kerrin Basin at various exhibitions led the group to enter the Scalefour 18.83 challenge with a model of the Lower Soudley ironworks in the Forest of Dean, which was 'Highly Commended' and which was recently exhibited at Scalefour North in April 2008.
New members are always welcome - evenings are a pleasant combination of discussion, modelling, running, coffee and cakes.
