Scalefour South West 2007

I have split the pictures up with a page for each P4 layout along with two extra pages; one of pictures of demonstrators, traders etc and another of some of the non-P4 layouts at the show. I've selected 10 pictures of each P4 layout except for Western Road. D&E enthusiasts will be pleased to learn that I received far more photos of Mike Anson's model than any other so for this one I've included16 pictures.

This is the first Society Show retrospective that I have produced since taking over from David Lane and I'm sure that you'll all join me in thanking David for his superb efforts through the years. I know I have always looked forward to the appearance of these reflections on the website whether I've been able to attend the show or not. I'm very happy to have been able to step into the breach and hope that I will be able to do as good a job as David. I'd also like to thank my contributors as mentioned above, without whom these retrospective web pages could not have appeared.

P4 Layouts

    Chiseldon by Dave Barrett

M&SWJR set around the 1920s. The line through Chiseldon linked the Midland Railway at Cheltenham to the south coast at Southampton through GW territory.		     Dorchester Junction by Sam Bee

Depicting the junction of the GWR and L&SWR to the south of Dorchester, set in 1867, with broad, standard and mixed gauge track. Operated by members of Broad Gauge Society
               
    Forge Mill Sidings by Michael Prince

Set between the late 1960s and early 1980s representing a single track branch somewhere on the Notts/Derbyshire border.
An 18.83 Layout Challenge finalist.		     Frome North by Richard Dunning

An imaginary line from Radstock (Junction) to Frome, set between 1950 and 1960 when the S&D enjoyed a last period of intense activity before terminal decline set in.
               
    Spital by Custodians of Spital - Dave Bywater & Co.

Built in the early 1980s the layout is now in the custodianship of Cleveland Model Railway Club
The layout reflects NER practice in 1910.		     Western Road Diesel Depot

Set in the summer of 1976, this was another entry in the 18.83 Layout Challenge and without that competition it would never have been built.

    Other layouts

I've been sent pictures of three of the other layouts on show: Bagborough West (3mm Broad gauge), Highbury Colliery and Wenfordbridge Goods depot both 2mm finescale.		     Demonstrators etc

There were Demonstrations by Brian Pearce, Jo Palmer, Eddie Bourne, Bob Bourne, Mike Peascod, Richard Lane and Bob Alderman. Here are a selection of pictures from around the show.
